Highlights: Floreana

Location and Climate:

Floreana, one of the smaller islands, is located in the southern part of the Galapagos. The island has a moderate climate, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 29°C (72°F to 84°F), influenced by the cool Humboldt Current.

History:  

Floreana has a rich and mysterious history, being the first island to be colonized in the Galapagos. It is famous for its tales of early settlers, pirates, and whalers. The island’s Post Office Bay, established by whalers in the 18th century, is a popular historic site.

Wildlife: 

Floreana is home to a variety of wildlife, including flamingos, green sea turtles, and the critically endangered Floreana mockingbird. The island’s rich marine environments also attract manta rays, sharks, and a diversity of fish species.

Highlights:  

Visitors to Floreana can explore Cormorant Point, known for its green sand beach and flamingo lagoon, and Devil’s Crown, an excellent snorkeling site formed by a partially submerged volcanic cone.
